A medical student whom I instructed in the practice of the TM technique said the following to me after taking the initial instruction, "I did not want to tell you this before, but I've had a heart murmur for many years. Now it is gone." At my suggestion she had her improved health verified by her doctor. When I saw her two years later she commented that she was still feeling great.
Here are some comments made by fifteen executives of a major Fortune 100 United States corporation after just four days of the Transcendental Meditation program.
1. I am sleeping deeper and requiring less sleep.
I enjoyed the instruction far beyond my expectations. I found I had little trouble from the onset with the mechanics ... It has been many years since I have felt as moved by any experience as I have this last week with the TM practice. I am delighted, excited, and wish to thank you. Thank you.
TM is a beautiful way to release tensions. Since I have been meditating (4 days), I have not had a headache. For me, this is wonderful. I usually have headaches that last for days, however I have not had one since my initiation into the program. (If this is any indication of what is to come I can only say that no matter what the price it is 'well' worth it.)
At this juncture, there is no question but that I enjoy a deep sense of physical relaxation while meditating. I have experienced a slower rate of breathing and upon ending the meditation, a feeling of being 'ready to go' ... I am pleased with the almost immediate results which seem to have occurred in my case and am happy that I made the decision to begin TM. I am convinced that TM has immediate and long range application and fully intend to convince my wife to begin TM. Thanks.
I realize that this TM course will not only benefit me in this one phase, but throughout my life in all phases.
1. Have been averaging 1 1/2 to 2 hours less sleep the first two nights and, though missing a night of meditation, last night woke up after 4 1/2 hours of sleep refreshed and ready to get up. However, I went back to sleep for three more hours when I realized it was only 2:30 A.M.
This course has been very beneficial for me. I feel that TM was something I had been looking for for some time...
Because the idea was not new to me, I was never uncomfortable with it. Due to a personality conflict in connection with my job, I anticipate that this is a successful means to help me.
Yesterday 1 functioned completely on two hours of sleep the night before. I feel TM helped me here. Stress situations this week (and I've had more than my share) haven't upset me to the degree that this caused any behavior that upset family life.
It is very refreshing.
My overall reactions are: it's the best practical ... most simple... least demanding experience I've encountered in many years.
I've been through sensitivity training, T-groups, encounter groups... the works ... But this simple process has more wholesome benefits than any of the above.
