*8. Will practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique cure my migraine headache?
Fortunately, at that time I heard about the TM technique as a means to relax, so I gave it a try. After about three month's of practicing the TM technique my migraine headaches went away. I have been practicing the TM technique for over 35 years and I can't remember a time, since then, when I have had a migraine headache.
Additional to my personal experience, studies on practitioners of the TM technique have indicated that the practice of the TM technique results in relief and reduction in migraine headaches.
There is also a program created by Maharishi called Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology. This program is designed to treat a wide variety of health problems to include migraines. Please see references below.
Please be advised, however, that there may be causes to migraine headaches which may not respond to meditation or the Vedic Vibrational Technology. So it is always prudent to check with your health care professional to review and monitor your health.
9. Is Transcendental Meditation a Religion?
Some religions incorporate various yoga and meditation practices into their religions. That does not make the yoga or meditation practice itself a religion. The practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique does not require any changes in life style, any do's and don't's, a system of belief, diet changes, etc. The TM technique is a simple mental technique practiced a few minutes twice daily. Because of the expansion of awareness that grows with the practice of the TM technique, meditators find that they gain a greater understanding of their own religious traditions. There are priests, nuns and rabbis who practice the Transcendental Meditation technique.
10. Does practicing the TM technique involve a type of self-talk?
No. The practice of the TM technique does not involve any self-talk, positive thinking programming, mood making, contemplation, or even belief in it's practice.
11. How long will it take before I will see some results?
Benefits from practicing the TM technique begin from the first day one begins the practice, and are cumulative with continued practice. Immediately one begins to feel some calmness and a pleasant feeling from the practice.
Personally, starting the practice of the TM technique has been the best decision of my life. In my over 35 years of practicing the TM technique I cannot recall having missed a session even once; I enjoy my meditation time and look forward to it. And, as a result of my TM practice I can say that I enjoy an active life and am able to handle life's challenges much more easily.
